- Day 1 | International Flight
- Day 2 | Arrival in Johannesburg
Arrive at O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Greeting and delivery of travel documents by our francophone representative. Transfer to your hotel. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 3 | Johannesburg and Surrounding Region
Depart with your francophone driver/guide to visit the Soweto area: the Southwestern Township known for its insurgency in 1976 during the Apartheid era. Visit the Apartheid Museum. Lunch at Shebeen. City tour of Pretoria, with a stop at the Voortrekker Monument. Late afternoon return to your hotel. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 4 | Johannesburg - Private Reserve
Transfer to Johannesburg airport and flight to the Kruger Park region. A land transfer will shuttle you to the heart of your private reserve. Settle into your lodge. Embark on your first safari in a 4x4 vehicle with your ranger. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 5 | Private Reserve
Full day safari (2) in the reserve on board a 4X4 vehicle, discovering African wildlife along with your ranger. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
Alternative Program: For avid wildlife seekers, a third night is highly recommended.
- Day 6 | Private Reserve - Johannesburg - Port Elizabeth
Flight to Port Elizabeth via Johannesburg. Upon arrival, pick up your rental vehicle. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 7 | Port Elizabeth - Tsitsikama National Park - Knysna (260 kms / 3h15 drive)
Self-driven tour of Xhosa country, making a stop in Tsitsikama National Park. This protected area is undoubtedly the most beautiful portion of the “Garden Route”. For part of the journey, don’t hesitate to opt for Route 102, which offers more pleasing landscapes than the main road through the forest and the Bloukrans Gorge. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 8 | Knysna and Surrounding Region
Self-driven tour to soak up the city and its beautiful lagoon. Lose yourself in an abundance of protruding bays, admire dunes stretching for kilometres and explore vast, virgin beaches and their powerful waves. Accommodation in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 9 | Knysna - Oudtshoorn (125 km / 2hr drive)
Self-driven tour en route to the semi-desert region of “Little Karoo”, which leads you to the ostrich capital of the world via the Outeniqua Pass, offering magnificent views of the mountainous region. Visit an ostrich breeding farm where the curious habits of the animal are explained. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 10 | Oudtshoorn - Swellendam (220 km / 3h15 drive)
Self-driven tour en route to Swellendam through a beautiful valley between the arid Swartberg Mountains to the north, and the Langeberg range to the south. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 11 | Swellendam - Franschhoek (170 km / 2h30 drive)
Self-driven tour en route to Franschhoek, better known in English as “French corner”. You’ll enter a region lined with meticulously maintained vineyards and beautiful white farms lined with umbrella pine hedges. This region, famous for its wine production, is undoubtedly the most European-like region of the country. Accommodations in a boutique-style hotel.
- Day 12 | Franschhoek - Stellenbosch - Cape Town (85 km / 1h15 drive)
Self-driven tour en route to Cape Town, a city often referred to as “the end of the world”. But most prefer to think of it as a place of new beginnings, a breeding ground for subtle mixes, “another Africa”, where the New World and Old World collide. Along the route, stop in Stellenbosch, a city whose university has made it one of the most prolific academic centres in the nation. Accommodations in boutique-style hotel.
- Day 13 | The Cape Peninsula
Still with your rental car, drive leisurely along the Cape Peninsula, with its amazing patchwork of untamed discoveries. You’ll drive “Chapman’s Peak”, a road carved into huge sandstone and granite cliffs offering breathtaking views of the coast. At the end of the road, Cape of Good Hope is the meeting point of two oceans: the Indian the Atlantic. On your return, be sure to stop in Simon’s Town, a charming little enclave marked by beautiful Victorian homes along a beach renowned for its impressive penguin colonies. Return to Cape Town. - Day 14 | Cape Town
Return your rental car at the hotel in the morning and then enjoy the day visiting the historic heart of the city, visit the Malay neighbourhood, take a stroll along the waterfront, or climb “Table Mountain”, which offers splendid views of the city and its surrounding bay. Accommodations in boutique-style hotel.
- Day 15 | Canadian Departure or Mauritius Extension
Transfer to Cape Town Airport. Flight to Canada or extension to Mauritius.
