Climate
Iceland all-year-round
In Iceland, each season has its own character and charm. Despite being called the “Land of Ice”, the sun stays up all night at the end of June, and shines many hours per day during the winter months. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the weather on the coast remains relatively mild, with average temperatures hovering around 0 degrees in January. There’s plenty to do and lots to see, regardless of the time of year.
Midnight Sun
In the summertime, nights are bright across the country. In June, the sun never completely sets in the country’s North. Excursions are even organized to Grimsey Island on the polar circle, specifically to witness the midnight sun – weather permitting, of course!
This being said, do keep in mind that the sun isn’t as hot at midnight as it is at noon: it’s a good idea to bring a warm shirt.
